Karena Mahung

Senior Consultant, Indufor

Karena leads Indufor's work on community-centered conservation, conservation finance, and organizational design and management. With a keen focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) strategy, she has extensive experience in designing and facilitating strategic plans for organizations, special initiatives and multi-stakeholder engagements. Notable projects in her portfolio include conducting a learning reflection for The Christensen Fund's Global Program and supporting the design and facilitation of a 5-year strategic planning process for the International Land and Forest Tenure Facility. Karena has also served as the technical co-lead in the development of an institutional assessment and 5-year strategic plan for Belize's national conservation trust fund, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust. In addition, she has provided strategic advisory services to the Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization, in the development of an ambitious 5-year strategic roadmap and operational plan. Her contributions have also extended to the redesign of the Alliance's national community-centered conservation program and the creation of a pilot program focused on embedding an equity-lens in the organization's grantmaking efforts. She holds a Master in Environmental Management from Yale University and lives in Punta Gorda, Belize.
